Mileage coverage is also recommended at $.50 /mile.
To remain on this list you must be a current member of UMTA. If your dues lapse, you will be removed. If there are written complaints about your judging, you will be removed.

Dr. Christian Bohnenstengel earned graduate degrees in Piano Performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has been teaching at Southern Utah University since 2008, and currently serves as Director of Keyboard Studies.

Dr. Christie Sowby, NCTM, is a professional piano coach, chamber musician, pianist, and accompanist. She has performed throughout the world and is an adjudicator, music advocate, and a winner of piano competitions. Dr. Sowby has won state and national awards for her teaching and has presented at local, university, state, national, and international music conferences. She strives to be at the cutting edge of music technology, pedagogy, new music, and performance. Dr. Sowby attended Brigham Young University, the New England Conservatory of Music, Harvard University, and the University of Utah.

Mary judged in Pennsylvania for the Dorothy Sutton Preliminary Piano Festival. She was chairperson for the Connie Murray Piano Festival for 8 years...a total of 604 students at one point! She is currently chairperson of the Central Utah NFMC.

Miho has accompanied various instruments , voices, operas, orchestra and bands. She was an accompanist for the "Beethoven's 9th with a cast of 10,000". Sean R. Steiner has served as an adjudicator for piano competitions and events for Encore and UMTA groups from Salt Lake City to Vernal. He is also a frequent judge for Utah State University's Piano Festival, the The Salt Lake Piano Competition, and most recently, the new Utah International Piano Academy and Competition held at the University of Utah. Mr. Steiner holds a Bachelor's degree in performance from Eastman School of Music and currently operates Steiner Piano Studio and also teaches as adjunct faculty at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.
Heather K. Smith, NCTM
Heather K. Smith, NCTM is an independent music teacher. She maintains a piano studio in her home in Centerville, Utah. Studying under the direction of Professor Lenora Ford Brown, Heather received a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at the University of Utah.
While in school, Heather was the Assistant Director and an Associate Instructor at the University of Utah’s School of Music Preparatory Division. She is active in her professional organizations and serves on several executive boards including: Utah Music Teachers Association, Mundi Project, and Bountiful Davis Art Center. In addition, she is a member of the Utah Division of Arts and Museums Change Leader Program. As part of her Change Leader certification, Heather oversaw the fundraising and creation of a recital space at Bountiful Davis Art Center.
Heather was recognized for her teaching and was honored with the National MTNA Student Achievement Recognition Award. She was also awarded the Student Teacher of the Year by the Utah Music Teachers Association. She is a certified teacher through the Music Teachers National Association and the Royal Conservatory of Music.
Nathan Smith is an international concert pianist and has performed concerts throughout South America, South Africa, and Europe. Nathan is an adjudicator, including local and international competitions, arranger, and pedagogue. Nathan currently lives Orem Utah, USA
